9bit Robot announces partnership with ZikWorks for Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 releases

Rhode Island, USA, February 19, 2026

9bit Robot today announced a new partnership with ZikWorks, the independent studio founded by Stephen Kazmierczak, focused on developing premier titles for the Atari 2600 and Atari 7800.

ZikWorks is dedicated to building games that feel like they belong on original Atari hardware. With a development approach rooted in the early 1980s, the studio emphasizes authentic engineering that respects the technical constraints and unique architecture of classic Atari platforms. ZikWorks also prioritizes aesthetic continuity, aiming for the unmistakable look and feel of the era, and designs its games to create emotional resonance for both longtime fans and newcomers discovering the joy of classic console play.

“Stephen’s approach lines up perfectly with what 9bit Robot is about,” said Ed Mello of 9bit Robot. “He is focused, deliberate, and passionate about doing it the right way, not just making something that runs on the hardware, but making something that feels like a lost classic.”

Additional details on upcoming ZikWorks titles and release plans will be shared in future announcements.
